The French bulldog is a stocky little dog that has a large square head with a rounded forehead. Its muzzle is broad and deep with a sudden stop. The nose on Frenchie puppies is usually black but may be lighter, depending on its overall coloring. The upper lips hang over the lower lips, and the teeth form the signature underbite.
French bulldogs have an arched back and compact appearance. They stand up to 12 inches high and weigh between 23 to 33 pounds. Coat colors vary but include brindle, black, fawn, white and various combinations of these basic patterns. Some Frenchies may be born with a black mask, have brindle markings and spots or exhibit unique marking all their own.
Frenchies can resemble a miniature bulldog, but their personalities are unique. They’re mild-tempered companions and seek out friendship with people and animals. Early socialization helps acclimate these dogs to the family and other pets. They’re known to be gentle and fun-loving companions for children, which makes them an excellent family dog, and they require just a short walk or a few fun training sessions a day. Due to their flat faces, French bulldogs are shameless snorters and snorers.
